Dr. Karen Davis, former Forest Hill City Councilwoman, now proudly serves as Coordinator of the Forest Hill Youth Advisory Council.  In her professional career, Dr. Davis works in Operations for BNSF Railway.  Before changing hats as a railroad transportation employee, Dr. Davis was a Chemistry Professor at TCJC Southeast Campus.

Dr. Davis keeps a full, active and rewarding schedule by serving as a community and humanitarian advocate through several boards; including, the Board of Directors for McDonalds YMCA, Tex-21 Transportation Board, Texas Wesleyan University's Expanding Your Horizon and Girls, Inc.  She has also been  involved and a steadfast figure on other boards for Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway's Diversity Council, Tarrant County Junior College Grievances Council, Tarrant County Junior College – Southeast Campus Chair for Health and Safety.  She further remains a long time standing member with the Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce, Blacks in Government, UAWW and countless other charities and for profit organizations.

When Dr. Davis is not mentoring students in the Minority Achievers Group, she can often be found participating in numerous speaking engagements.  To her list of achievements, Dr. Davis received the prestigious recognition as being a 2007 Honoree of Fort Worth's Business Press 40 under 40, which illuminates forty of Tarrant County's biggest and brightest starts. She's also been recognized as Who's Who of Science, BNSF Outstanding Achievement and the United Way Blue Award for board service as well a host of countless other accolades.

Admiringly, Dr. Davis believes that the greatest award and honor unequivocally motherhood and having the opportunity to share her life story to provide encouragement to others.  A life that began as a [former] gang member and teenage mother to working hard and obtaining a Doctorate in Leadership Organization is but one example.  She admits, "I went from a life of breaking laws to a life of setting laws and procedures and running a city with character, leadership and pride that is not fostered out of fear and terror."

Dr. Davis further contends that her most passionate cause in life is to let every young person know that they hold the ink pen that writes their life story. So, what will your story say? Will it be a #1 best seller?
