“By investing in our youth, we are investing in the future!”

Purpose:  To increase and enhance job, education and career advancement opportunities for young adults between the ages of 15-22 in the competitive labor market by more effectively collaborating with educators, local government, health services, local employers and the volunteer sector.

Goals

·        Hear the local Government’s commitment to young people for the next 5 years

·        Discuss how local government, health services, local employers, and the voluntary sector can tackle the big issues facing young people

·        Give our young people the tools to become successful in their future endeavors in education and the workforce

·        Explore how different sectors working with young people can work together to ensure that successful outcomes are met for young people

·        Hear from young people to understand what they think of public services and what they expect from them

·        Discuss how to build a new era of mutual respect between adults and young people, in their neighborhoods and communities and how our young people can become mentors themselves

·        Celebrate examples of young people’s achievements and best practice

Services Provided:  Job readiness assessment, employability skills training, career exploration, resume development, interviewing skills, mentoring, job search, job development, job placement and follow-up will be provided to assist unemployed individuals in securing, maintaining, and advancing in competitive employment.

Target Population:  Young adults between the ages of 15-22 also young adults with disabilities
